Another bit of news from us!  Katherine has been named honorary chairman of the Stand Against Racism Movement. The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA that aims to eliminate racism by raising awareness through its annual event. She was chosen because of her work with the YWCA of the Tonawandasand all the work she does for the community. Last week we had the pleasure of shooting a music video for Buffalo's own Innocent Bystanders. The song, "Kissing a Fool," is about a young couple who find themselves together, even though neither want to be in the relationship anymore. 

We were on location at the Tonawanda Castle, and they were nothing but hospitable to our entire crew. The entire day was a great learning experience for our younger members, and an exciting experience for everyone involved.

Emedia Studios is proud to announce that our President, Katherine Lucas has been nominated for the 2009 Athena Award.  The 20th Annual ATHENA Award will be presented on November 4, 2009 to an individual in Buffalo Niagara who demonstrates support for the goals of women professionals, and provides significant and selfless assistance on their behalf.  Twelve women were nominated for the prestigious award this year, presented by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.

For the past several years, Emedia Studios and Stahlka Marketing and Event Management have teamed up with Upstate New York Transplant Services (UNYTS) to create awareness about organ and tissue donations and community blood donations.  The "You've Been Given The Gift of Life.  Give It Back!" campaign was created in 2006 and since then we have created over 40 testimonials and various corporate DVD's to encourage participation. Through these stories, many lives have been saved and UNYTS has seen over 30,000 donors.  Many groups have come together to show their support like St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and Lockport High School (You can see their videos if you click on the links on their names) In the summer of 2007, Upstate New York Transplant Services added community blood banking services – bringing both a significant savings to area hospitals and assurance to Western New York donors that their blood donations remain local.

Coming up on Sunday, August 23 from 9am-5pm, you can join the Buffalo Sabres for a Community Blood Drive at 1 Seymour Knox III Plaza.  Show your support and give blood, knowing it stays in WNY.  

We have also created some new vignettes featuring donors, recipients and their families.
